Tombs vs. Temple of the Ages - Guild Wars Forums

Awhile ago I noticed that I could get into the UW for free with my warrior. I'm thinking of ascending my (Canthan) 55 monk in Tyria to get to the tombs, but is it 55able?

if you means the tomb at "the tomb of the primeval kings" or some such, well sorry to pop your bubble, but this area was designed to avoid 55ers, if monsters there have a skill called "finger of chaos" that have different effects on different classes, for monks, it removes enchants, so no, its not 55 able.

Definitely some confusion here.

Tomb of the Primeval Kings is a place that has unique access to a map that has some of the characteristics of the Underworld. There is no entry fee to this area. This area is NOT soloable by any character that I'm aware of, especially a 55 monk. You can access this area at any time (i.e. your server's country does not need favor to access it).

Underworld is a completely different place accessible only through the Temple of Ages. You have to pay a 1K entry fee, and the area is soloable by a number of characters (one of which is a 55HP character - see various build forums for details). Your server's country must have favor for you to access this area.

Fissure of Woe is also accessible via the Temple of Ages for a 1K fee. This area is soloable by a number of characters (and possibly a 55HP character - a bit uncertain about this). You can access this area at any time (i.e. your server's country does not need favor to access it).

Ok, thanks for the info, althogh last time I checked, the loading screen did say "Underworld".

So does anyone know how I can get the hang of soloing or 2-manning the UW without paying so much? I'm an experienced 55er but I've never soloed or 2-manned the UW so would it be significantly different?

#1 - You DO need favor to access FoW

#2 - when you first enter the "Tombs" it does say "Underworld" and it is a division of the UW, but in no part a relation to the one you access in ToA. Both areas do have the capability of dropping Ectos though.

It also says Hall of Heroes a bit later

a 55/ss conbination can solo fow just like the underworld with a few changes on the build(s)

Everything you said was right except this little bit. The underworld can also be accessed via Zin Ku Corridor in Cantha. This is the outpost you arrive at after completing the Tahnnakai Temple mission.

UW is also accessable from the statue in Lornar's Pass. You can take parties of mixed territories in providing the group has a majority of members from the favored territory.

Well, the best advice is find a friend who can help you in-game and give you advice. My first attempt at 55ing UW was a bit of a disaster, there are so many things that just come with experience. Long story short, I died a few times and wasted a few platinum. But each time I knew what to avoid, and I learnt a new situation that I should deal with, so that I won't die in that situation again. The trouble is, you are wasting a poor necro's time if you are a noob in there, that's why I said find a patient friend who will help you, and give you advice.

Farming everywhere else with 55 was easy, but UW was much more unforgiving when I first tried it
